Extending Quiz Time for Student's Accommodations

Canvas Help Guide Extending Quiz Time for Student's Accommodations

How to Extend Quiz Time

You may be contacted by the Disability Services on behalf of a student that needs an accommodation of extra time on quizzes. You can grant extra time on a quiz by quiz basis.
The amounts of time may vary but the most common accommodation that is granted to student is time and a half on all quizzes and tests. You would then need to go into the quiz and add the allotted time to make the total time amount to time and a half for the quiz.
For example:
  • Students normally get 60 minutes to complete the quiz.
  • The student with an accommodation is given time and a half to complete the quiz.
  • On that student's quiz, you would add 30 minutes to make the total time allowed to be 90 minutes
  • Do not put in 90 minutes in the extra time box, as that would result in them receiving 60 minutes plus an additional 90 minutes, so 150 minutes.
